NYHWA is seeking individuals to get involved with a variety of opportunities and actviities to work on the goal of passing legislation in the State of New York to provide recourse for employers and employees to protect themselves from those who actively and intentionally utilize psychological violence in the workplace to impair and damage the health and career of a fellow employee using the resources of the employer.

Some of the opportunites to get involved include:

District Coordinators

Individuals who have been a target of pscyhological violence in the workplace that have sufficiently healed from the trauma to effectively work with legislators and the community to speak on these issues.

NYHWA is currently looking for district coordinators in Rochester and Syracuse, New York 

Legislative Targets

Individuals who are willing to tell their story of pscyholgocial violence in the workplace to legislators and community groups who invite NYHWA to speak on these issues.  Legislative Targets must be able to make the distinction of knowing the difference between being a victim of trauma and a target of trauma.

Support Group Moderator

NYHWA has established contact with a local peer-to-peer mental health agency interested in hosting a suport group on psychological violence in the workplace in the Western New York area.  The person(s) interested in this role will have the flexibility of establishing the group in or around Western New York and set the hours for the group that fit into their schedule.  The peer-to-peer agency does provide a location at their office with some amenities and will provide photo copying for hand-outs. 

Proclamation Coordinators

The Proclamation Coordinator contacts various legislative officials at the State, District, County, City and Town levels to seek sponsorship and support for the Freedom from Bullies week that takes place in October of each year.  Individuals who are interested in this role simply write a short letter to legislators and ask them to sponsor the proclamation.  This task can be done anytime of the year and successful proclamations will be posted at the NYWHA web site.

NYHWA Listserv

The NYHWA Listserv is simply a mailing list that will keep people up to date on the activities and success's NYHWA and its grass roots volunteers who seek the passage of the Healthy Workplace Bill create.  NYHWA will not disclose the names or email addresses of those who subscribe to the mailing list.

Interested parties in any of the aformetioned roles are asked to send email to info@nyhwa.org and a State Coordinator will contact you and provide more information on the various activites NYHWA has outlined for each position.
